Lunch and Learn

Spring Series

February's Topic:

Food Allergies & Asthma

Join us as CAC launches our new programming series: Lunch and Learn! These days, schedules seem to be more packed than ever; but learning more about asthma management doesn't have to take hours. On the Third Wednesday of each month at noon, we'll be hosting a 30-minute, informal Zoom group with an expert in the field of asthma to educate and answer questions around asthma and issues that can affect those living with it. Lunch and Learn is free and open to all, and designed to be valuable for everyone, from experienced healthcare workers to community members looking to improve their ability to care for themselves and their loved ones.

February's Lunch and Learn will host Dr. Ruchi Gupta of CFAAR and Lurie Children's Hospital to discuss food allergies and asthma, and how the two intersect. We will discuss the public health impact of food allergies - including top allergens, who it impacts, severity, diagnosis and new treatments - as well as how the atopic march works relating food allergy, asthma, eczema and environmental allergies. Dr. Gupta will also specifically discuss the relationship between food allergy and asthma and the importance of good management and care. Resources around how to support families will be provided.

This event is FREE to attend for all, but registration is required to receive the Zoom link!

Presenter:

Ruchi Gupta, MD, MPH

Dr. Ruchi Gupta has 18 years of experience as a board-certified pediatrician and health researcher and serves as the founding director of the Center for Food Allergy & Asthma Research (CFAAR) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Gupta is world-renowned for her groundbreaking research in food allergy and asthma epidemiology, most notably for her research on the prevalence of pediatric and adult food allergy in the United States. She has also significantly contributed to academic research in the areas of food allergy prevention, socioeconomic disparities in care, and the daily management of these conditions. To reduce the burden of these conditions and improve health equity, she and her team develop, evaluate and disseminate interventions for families and conduct work to inform local, national, and international health policy.
