CAC's Asthma Day Conference will be targeted to clinical and community-health staff within the asthma space. It will address a broad range of knowledge base, but with interest in understanding asthma and its comorbidities emphasizing practical takeaways to put into your everyday practice with patients. Participants will come away with a deeper understanding of the tools and techniques that can be used to manage asthma and its comorbidities, and the interactions and complications thereof.

Andrea Pappalardo, MD, FAAAAI
Real Conversations with Real Life Asthma Cases: Comorbidities Matter

Dr. Andrea Pappalardo is a Board-Certified Allergist-Immunologist, Internist, and Pediatrician working at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine and UI Health. She is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics, the Medical Director of the CHECK Care Coordination program which serves as an Illinois Integrated Health Home, and additionally works as a provider on the Mobile Care Chicago Asthma Van throughout the Chicagoland area in front of Chicago schools. She provides expert allergy care to both adults and children, and the focus of her research is community-based implementation science approaches to improving asthma and allergic disease management for children. She actively works to improve access to sub-specialty care and promote health equity in allergic disease. Dr. Pappalardo is delighted to serve on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Asthma Consortium.


Ruchi Gupta, MD, MPH
Food Allergies & Asthma

Dr. Ruchi Gupta has 18 years of experience as a board-certified pediatrician and health researcher and serves as the founding director of the Center for Food Allergy &Asthma Research (CFAAR) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Gupta is world-renowned for her groundbreaking research in food allergy and asthma epidemiology, most notably for her research on the prevalence of pediatric and adult food allergy in the United States. She has also significantly contributed to academic research in the areas of food allergy prevention, socioeconomic disparities in care, and the daily management of these conditions. To reduce the burden of these conditions and improve health equity, she and her team develop, evaluate and disseminate interventions for families and conduct work to inform local, national, and international health policy. Ikuyo Imayama, MD, PhD
Sleep Disorders & Asthma

Dr. Ikuyo Imayama practices in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep, and Allergy at UI Health. Her clinical interests include sleep apnea, obesity, and lung disease; her goal is to assist each patient with finding treatment regimens that fit their needs. Dr. Imayama studied at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan, and has done post-doctoral research at institutions in Canada and the US.
