Presentation Objectives:

  • Explain the pathophysiology of asthma in pregnancy, including the pulmonary, hormonal and immunological changes that contribute to changes in asthma symptoms throughout pregnancy.
  • Describe maternal and fetal outcomes related to asthma in pregnancy.
  • Describe important components of the management of asthma in pregnancy.
Presentation Description:

This webinar will support the participant in their ability to accurately explain the pathophysiology of asthma in pregnancy, including the pulmonary, hormonal and immunological changes that contribute to changes in asthma symptoms throughout pregnancy. The presenter, Sindhura Bandi, MD, will also describe maternal and fetal outcomes related to asthma in pregnancy; and important components of the management of asthma in pregnancy.

Dr. Sindhura Bandi is an allergist and immunologist in Chicago, Illinois and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Rush University Medical Center, Oak Park Hospital and John H. Stroger Cook County Hospital. She received her medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency and allergy and immunology fellowship at Rush University Medical Center.

Throughout her career, Dr. Bandi has been involved in scientific scholarly activity including patient centered outcomes research in the area of Asthma with the Chicago Area Patient Centered Outcomes Research Network’s (CAPriCORN).

Dr. Bandi is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology serving as the Vice Chair of the Quality, Adherence and Outcomes Committee. She is a member of the AAAAI Mentorship Program and the AAAAI Leadership Institute.
